Sophia invests in companies that are decarbonizing and changing the world for good. Especially, her primary interests are climate tech and retail/commerce/consumer tech based on her experiences and network. Sophia assists in overseeing Translink’s portfolio companies in Korea and maintains relationships with Korean investors.
Sophia brings over 20 years’ experience to the team, with 7 years in venture investment, 7 years in renewable energy, and 7 years in retail/commerce. She was the founding member of Hanwha Group’s CVC initiative in 2016 and has led venture investments in climate tech, aerospace, and defense in the USA. Prior to the CVC experience, she held various roles at Hanwha Q CELLS, a globally recognized solar energy company. In her early career, Sophia was a buyer and merchandiser for luxury department stores, Galleria, in Korea.
MBA from Stanford University and bachelor’s degree in business administration from Seoul National University in Korea
Besides work, Sophia enjoys oil & acrylic painting, and she presented her art pieces at the Newport Beach Art Exhibition in 2016 and 2017. Sophia also enjoys singing and received a first prize in the music contest of Seoul National University, as a member of SNU Music Club in 1998 and performed at an amateur musical ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ in 2000 in Korea.
